Türkiye has been granted Dialogue Partner status with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), following a decision adopted at the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting, held in Manila, Philippines, from July 18 to 23. Türkiye submitted its formal application for the status in 2024, and member states granted in-principle approval at the 47th ASEAN Summit, hosted by Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur in October 2025.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye welcomed the decision and extended its gratitude to ASEAN Chair Philippines, the ASEAN Secretariat, and member states for their support in reaching it. The statement characterized the development as a significant milestone in Türkiye-ASEAN relations, adding that strategic cooperation would continue to be advanced on the basis of mutual benefit and shared prosperity.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that, with this decision, Türkiye has attained a status that ranks immediately below full ASEAN membership — one previously extended to only eleven countries.
