Prof. Dr. Hatice Çelik, and Deputy Director, Dr. Vuslat Nur Şahin Temel, co-authored with Dr. Joosung Lee, in International Relations Journal:“New Regionalism Beyond Asia-Pacific: South Korea’s Multidimensional Approach to the Eastern Mediterranean.”The article examines how South Korea extends its engagement beyond Northeast Asia through new regionalism—highlighting cross-regional, sector-specific cooperation. Using Türkiye and Egypt as case studies, the authors show how Seoul’s approach across defense cooperation, technology transfer, and infrastructure reflects the growing sophistication of a middle power navigating complex global dynamics.Congratulations to the authors on this timely contribution to debates on new regionalism, middle-power diplomacy, and global connectivity.

2)The ASEAN Center at SSUA is pleased to announce a new article by our Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hatice Çelik, co-authored with Prof. Dr. Gürol Baba of SSUA’s Department of International Relations, published in Asia Europe Journal:“Analyzing Türkiye’s Strategic Interests in the Indo-Pacific: Opportunities and Challenges in the European Union Context.”The article assesses Türkiye’s Re-Asia approach and the potential for EU cooperation within the Indo-Pacific framework.

3) We’re proud to share that Dr. Vuslat Nur Şahin Temel, the deputy director of the ASEAN Center, has published a new article in the Global Studies Journal!
